A/W 2011 Trends

Check out the A/W 2011 Trends here. I’ll keep adding the pictures so keep checking back!

I don’t care about bags or hats. But I LOVE shoes. I especially loved the dramatic boots at Christian Dior. Erdem always has pretty, delicate shoes while Isabel Marant usually has cool boots. I didn’t love the fringing, but they were fun all the same. However, I really don’t like those Prada boots, and Dolce and Gabbana’s heels looked cheap. I’m also not a fan of all the men’s style shoes, but those Chanel boots are pretty cool.
There seemed to be a lot of lace-up boots, like Dior and Alexander McQueen, and those ones Kate Moss wore that took hours to lace her into! Sigh. I shall definitely be looking out for high street versions of those Dior heels on the top right…

This might be rather dramatic for everyday make-up. But red lips are easy enough to do and eyeliner. I loved Roberto Cavalli’s look, with burnt orange and black and wet hair but I’m thinking that’s just for the runway…
Chanel’s make-up was probably my favourite. Silver winged eyeshadow with black eyeliner and the hair was awesome too!

Okay, so this might not be the most wearable trend of the season. But its still a lot of fun. Gel filled plastic at Christopher Kane, big fishy sequins at Prada, feathers at D&G and Alexander McQueen, fur hats at Burberry Prorsum, there was a lot of crazy fun materials this time around.
I love Gucci. Those flowing dresses, amazing make-up (dark red lips, red nails and tons of mascara) and ruffly bits round the neck are just so cool! And Prada has to be one of my favourite shows just because its so fun- and pretty!
Other shows with fun materials included Lanvin with lots of bright block dresses, Mary Katrantzou with colourful prints and Balmain with shiny jackets.

There was a lot of black and white at the shows this season which is good as its very wearable. Dolce and Gabbana had their stars and musical note dresses in monochrome but also their androgynous white shirts and black trousers. Ta da- easy wearable trend- a white shirt!
Alexander McQueen was complete black and white with lots of fur and feathers while at Roberto Cavalli there was mainly dark, gothic colours, with hints of red. There was also a lot of lace, including Jason Wu’s amazing masks. I love lace so I’m looking out for awesome lace tops on the high street! And Isabel Marant- ever wearable- had thick jumpers perfect for winter.
